Dental Implant Care at Premier Dental Care in Idaho Falls ID
Utilizing proper dental implant care will help maximize their chances of lasting for years to come and avoiding dental implant failure. At our Idaho Falls ID dental office of Premier Dental, we have a greatly successful satisfaction rate with dental implants dentistry.

Whether you’ve received a single implant to replace a missing tooth, implant supported dentures, or you’ve replaced an entire arch, the following guidelines can help optimize healing and get you into a dental implant care routine.

Dental Implant Pain Management and Oral Hygiene

Keeping your mouth clean is paramount to the success of new dental implant teeth. A few ways to achieve the best oral hygiene with your implants are:

  • Mouthwashes and salt water washes help to significantly reduce bacteria and promote healing
  • Brushing: Be sure you clean in and around all implant posts. Many patients notice that an electric toothbrush is easiest to use.
  • Flossing: Floss implants as you do your natural teeth. However, several teeth may be attached together in an implant supported bridge. In such cases, “floss threaders” or “superfloss” can be used to run floss under these areas for easy cleaning.
  • Avoiding tobacco

While there may be bleeding and slight swelling right after your dental surgery, biting down on gauze and utilizing ice packs in a 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off rotation can help with swelling. We also recommend that patients avoid the use of straws to avoid any irritation to the restoration site.

Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication typically helps manage any slight pain or swelling. If you have trouble with bleeding or excessive swelling and pain, please contact our office or seek immediate medical care.
