What is Invisalign?
This teeth-straightening system uses clear aligners that are made out of nearly invisible plastic. Unlike traditional braces, these can be removed for special occasions, eating, and completing your daily teeth cleaning routines. The aligners are BPA free and so smooth that they don’t irritate your cheeks and gums.
The Invisalign Treatment Process
To begin, we schedule a consultation during which you and our dentists discuss a plan to achieve your desired result. They will analyze your bite and discuss your dental goals with you. Once Invisalign has been determined to be the best tooth-straightening system for you, the next steps include:
- X-rays and impressions of your teeth to create a digital image
- Map the movements of your teeth from their current position to the final desired position
- Have custom-made clear aligners created specifically for you to wear throughout the day
- Monitor your progress while you change aligners every two weeks, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment
As you move from one aligner to the next (approximately every two weeks), your teeth will gradually shift until they reach their final, improved position. While each patient’s treatment process is unique, on average, patients use Invisalign for 12 months.

How much does Invisalign cost?
The average price of Invisalign braces is usually a bit higher than regular braces. The average cost, according to the manufacturer, is between $3,500 and $8,000. Your dentist can give you a better estimate of the price.
How long does it take to straighten your teeth with Invisalign?
It depends. For simple cases, treatment time with Invisalign aligners can be as short as six months. On average, Invisalign will take 12 months to 18 months to straighten your teeth.
Do you wear Invisalign all day?
Invisalign aligners should be worn between 20-22 hours per day. They should remain in your mouth as much as possible for the treatment to be effective.
What foods should you avoid with Invisalign?
All sticky foods, such as gum or chewy candy, should be avoided.
Does Invisalign Fix an overbite?
Invisalign can treat an overbite, as long as it isn't severe. Invisalign can align your teeth, jawline or both. However, this may take additional effort to correct.
